Week 10 EOC: What are the benefits vs the features?

Companies use marketing channels because every company needs a person in the background that is in charge of the product to make things available for their business and the customers buying from the business. These channels main focus to get the product to me so that I can serve it to my customers to continue to make money and give the customers what they want. Therefore, I satisfy their needs and my own needs to maintain my food truck business. The channel members in this business interact with each other every time a new item needs to be products, they interact via email or over the phone so that there is no misunderstandings. The major channel alternatives for my food company would be involving a marketing channel management team to make sure my business is running effectively and efficiently. They are in charge of the channel members and make sure products are getting pushed out and everything runs smoothly. The company select, motivate, and evaluate channel members based on their skills they bring to the table; observing them as they do their job. In my business I will motivate them by simply telling them that all of our jobs are to bring people strangers together and putting a smile upon their face. In my opinion seeing other people smile and happy makes my mood better and the energy is reciprocated. Marketing logistics and supply chain management is important because that is what keeps a business functioning. When those two things run smoothly it allows the owners and retailers to be stress and worry free. Knowing that your products and your entire business is being taken care of should be the main focus and priority! Lastly the benefits of the food business is the experience of what the company is offering which includes good foods and good vibes, the features that make up for that would be the actually product (Skewers and drinks) which makes everyone satisfied.

Week 9 EOC: Mission Statements

1.      Humberto Bautista: Talks about creating memorable experience for the community with food and music. I chose his mission statement because food and music brings people together and creates happy customers who want to come back.

“A company can learn a lot by analyzing loyalty patterns in its market. It should start by studying its own loyal customers”

Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing

2.      Taylor Stewart: Talks about healthy food that is organic, and has hormone free ingredients. I chose her mission statement because usually healthy food is expensive but she made it affordable and healthy.

“Outstanding marketing companies go out their way to keep important customers satisfied.”

Armstrong & Kotler (2011). Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Ed. Prentice Hall Publishing

3.      Hiwote Berhanu: Talks about childhood memories, culture and natural food. I chose this mission statement because it was intriguing that she is serving food that represents what she likes and the traditions of that.

“Product is a key element in the overall market offering. Marketing mixing planning begins with building an offering that brings value to target customers.”

Week 8 EOC: Creative Content

For my pop-up restaurant stand the name of it will be “The skewer run through” and I will be serving shish kebabs with chicken on it and some type of vegetable to go along with it and since I am located in Las Vegas I will probably had a fruit kebab for people who do not want meat and rather have something light. It will be a mobile kitchen trailer that way I could move locations from time to time depending on the traffic coming by. I also want to keep in mind that if I am at a certain location that has high volume of people, I may need a license or some type of permission for me to be able to stop there as often as I’d like and serve food. The creative content for my mobile kitchen trailer would consist of a bright color and a flashy sign to draw in customers so my trailer will be noticed and inviting. I most likely will find a picture of a mobile kitchen trailer online and photo shop my ideas onto that image I have chosen which will most likely be a color change and some added decorations for the fun of it. For my major fashion and retail management the only thing that is related to the pop up restaurant would be the management side of it. It will not have anything to do with fashion obviously. I can bring the management side to it and make sure my business is running successful though. Unless I convey some ideas to have my pop up restaurant at a fashion show to cater to the guest on those special events and see if that becomes successful, if it does become successful I can bring my major into it and future my business into that!

Week 7 EOC: The Pitch

For my pop up food stand I would love to do something that is fast and easy for the customers. For instant I want to gravitate to customers in Las Vegas, on the strip for tourist and people who don’t want to be waiting in a long line forever when in reality they rather site see and explore a new city that can include walking back to their hotel, going into a mall with their family, etc. I feel like walkable food is the best kind of food especially for people who have a busy day ahead of them and are rushing to get to a party or to a show in town and don’t have time to sit and eat a full course meal. That is where I step in and give them food that will satisfy them and get them full but not too full to where they become sleepy and don’t want to do anything else but sleep, just enough to get them through the day. I want to the customers to be able to walk around and eat at the same time and not feel like they have too much in their hand and are hindered by large amounts of food. Not all customers want to sit down and eat, a lot of the time they want to be able to multitask. The meal I would serve would be kabobs which are meat on a stick like chicken or steak and incorporate broccoli with it so it doesn’t all have to be meat. I will only serve water and sweet tea, I feel like sweet tea is very refreshing and light and water because Las Vegas is a dry place and people need to stay hydrated. I would do a food stand because it is small and I would only be serving one meal not a variety so I will not need a lot of equipment, it would be in an area that does not have much restaurants or food places surrounding it, that will draw the hungry customers in.

Week 6 EOC: Me x 3

Three things that define who I am or things that I have is my contacts, hair, and accessories. I say my contacts because I’ve been wearing them since my sophomore year in high school every since I started modeling and I also think I look different when I wear my glasses and when I wear my contacts. Wearing my contacts kind of makes me feel a little more confident just because you can see the features in my face more and I feel glasses hides my eyes and to me that is one of the features on me that I really love. The second thing that defines me is my hair. Whether it is real or fake I truly enjoy changing up my look and having fun with the different hair styles I chose. Wearing my real is okay, I don’t have a problem with it but it is so much fun to wear my hair curly, straight, long, short, with color added etc. That is a part of my personality, which me to says I do like change and don’t mind change. I like to be different and switch my style up a bit and I don’t mind any of that at all! The last thing would be my accessories, things that I enjoy to wear with any outfit. As a person into fashion accessories are a big thing and I’ve wearing jewelry since I was young and it shows people that I like to dress up and spice up my look. I am very casual most of the time so adding jewelry is fun and depended on how much accessories I had it is all about stepping out your comfort zone and trying new things even when you don’t think it may look good on you. Those things define me and make me happy!

Week 5 EOC: Social networking and job hunting

Nowadays social media is a big part of everyone’s day. We use the internet and apps for pretty much everything. It’s a great way to get communicate with others, meet people and just enjoy apps for other purposes. People all over the world are getting their businesses booming by simply tweeting their ideas and there is a chance someone famous or interested in their work will reach out to them. For instance when you promote your clothing brand on Instagram you want someone with lots of followers and who is even beautiful to wear your brand and show it off simply by tagging that clothing brand to get it notice and to up their followers. This is a way a lot of people are getting jobs! People who promote someone else’s brand & wear the clothing gets paid off that & are referred to as an “Instagram Model” and become “instafamous”. They would have thousands of followers and in real life they may not be a big time celebrity. In other situations people showcase their talents such as artwork of many things like celebrities and they see that & that artist gets exposure. Also it could be people who make food just at home, people who make their own accessories etc. Once a photo is uploaded and put out into the universe, it is there forever and it could be a good thing or a bad thing. Some people get recognized for their skills and can be lucky enough to get hired at a very large business company. It doesn’t always happen like that but I do feel like social networking can land anyone a job if they are really committed and determined to get their work out there. It can be a very rewarding feeling and not as easy has it seems.

Week 4 EOC: New Phone App

The app I believe that will solve my problems and satisfy my needs would be a bus route app. Going on the RTC bus schedule just to find out the times and routes takes up time when I can simply have it right there when I need it. Its way more convenient and very necessary for someone like me who does not own a vehicle and needs to take the bus almost every day. A lot of the time they have a bus number at the bus stop and you can just text that number and instantly see what time it comes but sometimes it may not be accurate. When you don’t have an app like this you never know if you are going to miss the bus by only a couple of minutes or seconds, having to run to the bus is not a fun experience and you definitely have to plan your day around the bus schedule just in case you have to be somewhere at a certain time. The bus driver does carries bus schedule books but in this day in age we are all about technology and our phone is what we are constantly on so that is why it is very important to have a bus app on your phone. This bus route app would satisfy my needs because I will no longer have to worry about looking at the wrong times or getting information I don’t need but instead I can simply plug in the location and bus I need to take and have the up to date schedule for holidays, weekdays and weekends since I know on certain days the times change. This app would be a life saver and it won’t be a hassle or difficult to navigate and I know this will make people like me who ride the bus have a smooth experience on the bus.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

The Generation I was born into was the Millennial (Generation Y) which is the youngest out of all the generations and are between the years 1980-2000. This generation is all about technology, they are racially diverse and there are 80 million in the U.S which is the largest than any other demographic group.

Issues

·         Less wealth, more debt

·         Recession- our age group are more likely to move back in with parents because of financial difficulties

·         Dependent- Rely on parents; this can be because they are privileged and they have financial support.

·         Less economically successful- Due to lack of motivation

·         Technology distractions- wrapped up in things that are both good and bad like social media, new gadgets.

*In my opinion some of these points are valid just because how society is today, teens are into the latest phones, parents still take care of their children even if they are young adults, school is not affordable for some people so everyone doesn’t get a chance to go to college.  Although those points may be valid this generation stands up for what they believe in and we all have different values.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money For Good

The for profit company that gives back to their community is Burt’s Bee. Burt’s Bee is a company that started selling lip balm but now has branched out and are selling more items such as lotion, lip gloss, creams and more natural skin products. Burt Shavitz products went global in 1999 and they moved from Maine to North Carolina to focus on expanding their business further for their health and beauty care line. Burt’s Bee is all about natural health and the well-being of each individual around the world. It wasn’t until 2007 till they realize they can do a good deed and start non-profit organization called Burt’s Bee Greater Good Foundation. On fundraisingjournal.com they say “at Burt’s Bee their goal is to help create a world where people have their information and tools they need to make the highest ethical choices and do the best for themselves, their families and the environment.” They are bringing positivity and are ultimately inspiring others to give back to their communities as well. The Greater Good Foundation is ran by volunteer employees who help build houses all around North Carolina. “We have a triple bottom line: people, profit, planet, you can’t have one without the other two. So when we look after our own we mean everybody: our employees, our customers, our families, ourselves.” They really love the idea of humans looking after each other and spreading human support. Burt’s Bee has partnered with other organizations such as the Inter-faith food shuttle, The John Avery boys and girls club, Habitat for humanity and lots more to reach not only their community but other communities that value their hard work and dedication. The Burt’s Bee has done so much over the years and I know they will continue to pay it forward to others. “Burt’s Bee donated $233,000 to 23 nonprofit organizations and pledges to donate at least 10% of all website revenues to its selected well-being partners.” They are truly an amazing organization and deserve all the success!

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group-Video Games

Gaming has been a big money maker for a long time and throughout the years there has been some major issues in this industry and some major successes as well. PlayStation four is definitely a cash cow that keeps on progressing in the market share. Ben Lamoreux says "Demands for PlayStation four remains incredibly strong in the U.S. as it was number one in hardware and software sales in February according to the latest NPD report." When PlayStation four came out the hype about the PlayStation was really intense, people were excited about this. As for the PlayStation Super Slim it was low in the market share and in growth rates. Although they wanted to make money they were cutting the prices tremendously and in return that didn't succeed when they made that chose.  It was basically the same as the originally but didn't offer any major improvements. Michael Pachter said "at this point in terms of competing at the cycle and in terms of driving mind share, I don't think customers are interested in the prettiest console they can find, but rather the one that has the best value." Now for Xbox it was a console that did really well. The growth rates were high and increase by eighty one percent in sales in May 2014. The method they chose was to drop the prices and more people would buy. For the Xbox 360 they didn't do so well, they were low in the Boston consulting group. People were more interested in other gaming consoles like the ps4, yet they did out sell Nintendo their failure rates were the highest for gaming consoles. Since Xbox 360 out sold Nintendo you can tell that Nintendo didn't do so well either. Nowadays people do everything on their phone and everyone can agree it is just easier that way. They are trying to find different methods to bring back Nintendo for the modern day. Peter Warman says, "It took them a long time, but Nintendo finally realized that the $30 billion dollar mobile gaming market in 2015 is too big to be ignored." All these gaming consoles face issues and successes but its all about finding ways to get people to buy and enjoy!

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

Being a fashion show coordinator was never a career I thought of doing. Yet I knew since tenth grade in high school that anything with fashion excited me and ultimately made me happy. I didn't even realize my dreams were staring me right in my face the whole time and the direction I took in my education changed. Sometimes you think you want to for sure go after a goal but things change and it is very possible to have more than one dream. I always tell myself I wish I knew the things I know now when I was in high school. Time is just flying by, I'm getting older and today on July 22nd at 11:55pm I am more than ready to work extremely hard for what is mine! My dreams are mine and it is what inspires me to say forget all the obstacles, this is my life and I am taken control of it. In high school I would be apart of these great fashion shows and photo shoots and although I enjoyed it I am very anal about certain things and a bit ocd when it comes to perfecting something or making my work look good as possible so I know this career fits me perfect and I can't wait to put my talent and skills to use. I am the one who remains positive even in the most roughest times because it does not last forever and I have the power to change things I don't like in my life. It is up to me to change, grow, adjust and mature into a young women who is dedicated to achieving more than one dream and not doubt myself but instead hold my head up high and keep my faith strong throughout this journey of learning about my profession and about myself. As long as I put effort into my education I will succeed and become someone who inspires the next person.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

The great customer service I have experienced would be in Wet Seal which is a women's clothing store. When I think of great customer service I think of some key details like greeting, sharing promotions, checking back on customers and making sure they leave with a positive outlook on the store they went into. As soon as I walk into Wet Seal, someone immediately greats you and ask If you need assistants finding anything, and even if you are just taking a look they still take the time to share the promotions and sales they have for the day. Greeting is very important because it shows the customers how welcoming and friendly you are and sharing promotions are important because who doesn't love a deal? Being in the store for a while I would expect the sales associate to check up on my current status and Wet Seal does just that. They start fitting rooms and more than one person insist on helping you which makes it easier to get in and out the store. I do have to say there was a time where an associate was over the top and didn't give me any space to do my own thing and that made me not want to shop but other than that they train their associates really well, and they know a lot of product knowledge within the store which is needed so it can be a smooth experience for everyone. Presentation is important in any retail business, Wet Seal executes their visual appearance very well and remains clean and tidy. The environment is easygoing, filled with fun music and everyone has a positive attitude from beginning to end.
"The single most important thing is to make people happy. If you are making people happy, as a side effect, they will be happy to open up their wallets and pay you."
